"Caught Between the Lion and the Twins" was composed in the last half of 2007. It was written during a difficult time in my life when I was struggling with cancer. The title of this composition is related to the zodiac as the sign of Cancer is located between the lion of Leo and the twins of Gemini. The main body of the composition, a 12 bar minor blues, is written using a 12-tone method where no single note is repeated before all 12 chromatic notes are used. This piece served as the title tune for one of my CDs. During this difficult time, I was able to shift my mental focus from the cancer treatment to the creation of Caught Between the Lion and the Twins.
I have two close friends of over 20 years that were recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It is my hope that funds raised from this composition and donated to the Lustgarten Foundation (www.lustgarten.org) will help with research towards a cure for this deadly disease.
