This song uses a physics paradox as a metaphor for the many contradictions in life, our actions, desires, needs and perceptions of the world around us. It stems from my personal journey as a musician and a scientist. Music was the reason I wanted to come to this country, but it was through my work as a scientist that I could make this into reality. In the process, I embraced the challenge and opportunity to pursue medical research with Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston (www.dana-farber.org). The project "Songs for Something" is a perfect opportunity for me to finally give back to the DFCI community in a meaningful and personal way. The art I was able to create during the years I worked there as a postdoc can have now a bigger purpose than just my own. And finally, I would like to dedicate this song to my beautiful angels who were recent victims of cancer; my grandfather Manuel and my uncle Ricardo. I'll see you guys in heaven one day. Much love.
